Beginning Guided Mindfulness Meditation Evenings

This is an evening designed for you to breath and relax in a tranquil space.  Meditations are offered on a stress-free, drop in basis on Monday evenings from 7 - 8 p.m. These sessions are given twice a year, in the fall/winter and winter/spring.  You will be introduced to different mindfulness techniques that include gentle exercises to bring awareness to your body. We offer various types of guided meditations to help ease stress and improve general health. From working with the breath, to walking meditations and guided visual meditations, we provide you with tools to bring calm into your daily life.

Check with the KRUC office to find out the exact dates of the program or see poster. Drop-in.
 Offered by donation.

This program is not explicitly religious or spiritual but can be used to support a faith tradition.

Facilitator Biographies:

Kim Dunlop

Kim started meditating years ago during a time when she was experiencing excruciating chronic pain. To her astonishment, she had her first glimpse of pain relief while meditating, and since then she has maintained a regular meditation practice. Kim and friends have been providing mindfulness meditation evenings for three years at Kingston Road United Church. Prior to this she co-facilitated guided meditation evenings at her massage therapy clinic for six years. Kim’s wish is that through meditation people will find ways to be lighter and more forgiving towards themselves.

Rev. Debra Schneider

Ordained in 1996, Debra served three congregations over the course of 22 years. Her first call was to Glen Morris United Church. She moved back to Toronto in 2000, serving first at Northlea United and then at Manor Road United, retiring in 2018. Debra enjoys connecting with people within her congregations and engaging them in finding their place in the life and work of the congregation, and of the wider church and community. She enjoys finding connections between our scriptures and our lives and exploring various forms of spiritual practice including Ignatian (lectio divina), Celtic (creation-centred – viseo divina), mindfulness (Buddhist), and indigenous practices. She enjoys guiding congregational conversation through major decisions and shifts in understanding and practices. Over the years, these have included: children participating in communion, allowing weddings for same gender couples, becoming an affirming congregation, sale & redevelopment of property. Her ministry has included leadership and participation in several Ecumenical and Interfaith groups and events. She enjoys mentoring individuals exploring ministry as a vocation, and occasionally assisting others with employment searches. During her ministry, she was an enthusiastic and faithful participant of presbytery, Conference AGM's, and two General Councils. She retired in 2018. After taking a bit of a break and working with her husband to renovate their kitchen, she went on to serve in supply ministry at East End United for a year+ and has since continued there as a volunteer associate minister. Debra is married to Michael and has three grown children and two grandchildren who she adores. She enjoys music, singing, dancing, walking, exploring art and the natural world, creating beautiful spaces, conversations with friends and playing with her dog, Winnie.
