MUSIC & CHOIRS

MUSIC and CHOIRS at KRU

At Kingston Road United Church, music is a big part of ‘Who We Are’. Our wonderful Senior and Junior Choirs and gifted musicians enhance our Worship services. We organize and host the Kingston Road Village Concert Series, provide choirs, musicians and music teachers with rehearsal and performance space in our acoustically-fantastic sanctuary.

Eric MacKeracher has been the Music Director at Kingston Road United Church (located in the Beaches area of Toronto) since September 2000. Eric is an active member in the Greater Toronto community providing private lessons and master classes to many. He sings tenor in both the Elmer Iseler Singers and the Amadeus Choir. Eric graduated from the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto and continues his studies in both piano and voice.

The Sanctuary

The KRUC Senior Choir

is a non-auditioned assembly of enthusiastic music lovers (including some semi-professional talent) focused on good art and community support. We can boast a regular turnout of fifteen members at Thursday rehearsals and Sunday services. The music chosen by Eric MacKeracher (MD) is exceptional and the KRUC archived-music library is truly spectacular. Come join us!

KRUC is excited to promote the return, after a couple of years of silence, of the KRUC Junior Choir (“KRU’s Singing Crew“). The kids experience the luxury of singing in regular rehearsals and services with the added joy of sharing their art in a low-stress and accepting environment. Music rocks, and Conductor Jennifer Martyn brings a level of fun and excellence unmatched in our ‘hood. There’s a place for you at KRU!

The Kingston Road Village Concert Series is the brainchild of Tim Dawson, a bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and member of Kingston Road United Church. Tim joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 1980. At age 21, upon graduating from the University of Toronto, he became the youngest member of the TSO at that time. Four concerts a year are presented at Kingston Road United Church, a central location in the Kingston Road Village. The KRUC sanctuary is an amazing acoustic space. All concerts feature exciting professional musicians performing music that ranges from traditional classical to the avant garde. Check out our upcoming concerts!
